My favorite thing about the P38 is that the guns in the nose were able to just shred enemy aircraft because of how concentrated the fire was.

My second favorite thing is that the propellers counter rotated in order to eliminate torque steer. It was a major advantage over single engined aircraft, and many of the twin engined aircraft of the time.

It's just called prop torque or propeller torque effect, and when you have an engine out scenario in a twin engine aircraft it can cause controllability issues such as a strong yaw moment, but dealing with that is preferable to not having to deal with it when your one engine goes out over enemy territory.
